Most presidents don’t start holding campaign rallies until about halfway through their third year running for president, but Donald Trump is not most presidents. President Trump filed to run for reelection the day he was inaugurated and started holding campaign rallies only a month after he was inaugurated. Much of the media speculated that President Trump was holding so many campaign rallies to quench his ego, but recently it seems that Trump may have used his rallies to completely redefined campaign financing. While the Democrats that have fundraised the most are sitting on around 30 million dollars or less, President Trump has raised over 300 million dollars and still has about 160 million in the bank solely for this campaign. This is over double what former President Obama had at this point going into his reelection, and is one of the largest war chests in the United States history.

While money certainly won’t be the only factor that decides this upcoming election, it will definitely prove to be one of President Trump’s strong suits. One of President Trump’s key fundraising strategies has been highlighting Elizabeth Warren’s recent growth in the polls. By pointing out that Warren could win the Democratic primary, beat Trump, and implement her 90% tax on billionaires, Mr. Trump has been able to fundraise extraordinarily well. Mr. Trump is a long way from victory, but if things keep going the way they are going, another victory could be on the horizon. Trump currently has an approval rating of about 41.2% which is only about 2% lower then Obama’s at this time, but President Obama won the White House by a very large margin in 2012. There is no knowing what will happen next in the race for the presidency of this nation, but right now Mr. Trump is remarkably well situated to hold on to it for the next five and a half years.
